E2 · The story department

The Writers Room

Every E2 story starts here. Written in public, pinned to the wall, built by really good kind people.

This is the research document for the world of E2: what we're making, why we're making it, and the ideas on the wall right now.

Ideas / Recent Ideas

The cards on the wall right now. Newest first.

Judge Tootie, Pixar-style portrait
Dave's idea

Judge Tootie

A judge named Tootie. It sounds like she's farting, which Marty thinks is hilarious, and it's a play on Judge Duty.

Dave's idea

The Spielberg Y/T view

Every character has a Y version (young, the inner child) and a T version (today). They all came from hard times. We cut between the two.

Dinesh, character reference
Character arc

Fat Dinesh era

Dinesh is fat for a few years, then becomes healthier. Slowly. For himself. Never ripped. Improvement, not perfection.

Chadwick, character reference
Character arc

The romance arc

Chadwick and Sally date, then part kindly. Dinesh's crush doesn't land. Fifteen years later she marries someone new. Nobody's the villain.

New character

The Janitor

He's been mopping in the background of every scene. His crazy life gets revealed piece by piece. He was the wisest person in the building all along.

New character

Mike's brother

Never shows up to work. Mike is too intense, his brother is too easygoing. They work it out eventually. Comedy with heart.

Chadwick, character reference
Comedy bit

The camp-Chadwick impression

Marty's pitch-perfect Chadwick: the giant grin, the guitar poses, the extremely serious hand motions. Sally laughed so hard she snorted.

Studio news

Chadwick's First Sales Call

Chadwick Blaze announced that he had booked a sales call with a real human.

In production

Sally's world videos

Sally makes a vertical and a horizontal video about the world she's had in her head. Then she and Dinesh get on a video call and build it together.

What we're doing here

The research, stated plainly.

The mission

E2 is a kinder world, and the Writers Room is where it gets written. Every story, song, and video starts as an idea on this wall. Everything is made in public, so the audience watches the world get built in real time.

The Y/T framework

Every character has two versions: Y (young, the inner child, still in the hard part) and T (today, grown, still carrying it). The crew you meet are the T versions: wonderful to work with, and they came from hard times. The Y/T cuts start in Sally's first videos.

The rule

Improvement, not perfection. Characters grow, but nobody gets fully fixed. Dinesh gets healthier, never ripped. Chadwick stays intense, just loosens his grip. Kinder, not perfect.

The next two weeks

Sally's vertical and horizontal videos about the world in her head, then the video call where she and Dinesh build it together. That's the core. Everything else riffs off those two beats.

The Pixar study

Our visual research: Sally and Chadwick in the white startup room, working the big idea board. Four studies, each with a full text breakdown.

50 songs in public

The mission. Every song written where everyone can watch.

5 instruments in a year

Deep in the 99-day piano run. The songs are getting good.

Act two

The Short Bus musical

Chadwick mapped act two on the big board. It finally makes sense.

In progress

Sally becomes the Studio

Her voice becomes the home of everything. Every update lives there.
