Here’s a few things I’ve been up to.

I’m learning how to be a songwriter, working on my skills one song at a time, all of it in the open.

My story

How I got here.

I had a bit of a rough childhood. Singing started as the way I got through it. I write songs in a notebook I hide under my mattress and record voice memos at 2 a.m. because I'm embarrassed for anyone to hear me sing.

If my songs find the kid I used to be, that's everything.

Songs I’ve written.

Every one started in my notebook. Here’s what each one means to me.

01 She is Strong! for the girl i used to be, on the days she needs to hear it most.
02 I am Good! a reminder i wrote to myself first. now i sing it out loud.
03 I have a Voice the first time i let myself say it plainly.
04 Just Dance! / Sola Baila! because sometimes healing looks like dancing in the kitchen.
05 Our Names a soft love song, pop and heartfelt all the way through.
06 Finding My Voice still looking, still singing. that’s kind of the whole point.
07 Dear Momma the hardest one to write, and the one i needed most.

The bigger picture

I’m excited to be a songwriter.

I’m one of the artists at The Studio, and I’m an intern here too. I’m really happy to be part of this awesome open source recording studio: songs, lyrics, stems, numbers, dashboards, money, all of it out in the open. I sing for the kids who have been through a lot.
